Year 1: The common foundation programme: includes an introduction to nursing skills; biosciences; human development; behaviour and health; equality and healthcare; teaching and learning is focused on developing students professional knowledge, skills, values and confidence to participate in practical and clinical care. Year 2 and final year: Students start the branch programme, building on their 1st year by developing specific professional knowledge skills and attitudes to equip them to care for patients and clients; branch programmes focus on the theory and practice of the chosen branch and include modules such as teaching for health, therapeutic skills, care management and leadership, inter-professional collaboration and the development of systematic research to underpin the Final year project; practice placements: these are wide and varied, and are tailored to students chosen nursing branch; this may include caring for adults, children and their families, service users with learning health disabilities or those with mental health problems; students can choose an alternative placement at the end of the 2nd year which gives the opportunity to gain clinical experience elsewhere in the UK, abroad or in the specialised regional and national sectors of excellence in London and the surrounding area.
