You will study Human Biology, Chemistry, Sociology, Psychology and Reflective Practice as your main subjects, with supporting units in Mathematics, IT and Study Skills. The course should enable you to achieve the entry qualifications for progression to university.The development of Key Skills is essential to your development and progression to the world of work. Great emphasis is placed on the development of Study Skills and will include essay writing, assignment writing, referencing using the Harvard system and presentation of work using IT. All subjects are divided up into chunks of learning called units which may be at level 2 i.e. GCSE standard or level 3 i.e. A level standard. Sufficient units at the correct level and in the right combination must be achieved in order to gain an Access to HE Diploma
A responsible attitude with good communication skills, suitable skills in written English and a positive attitude to your study are essential. The course will cover academic subjects needed for entry to university degree courses so you will need to demonstrate a good standard of literacy. To apply you must complete an application form. When we receive your application, you will be invited into the College for an informal interview and an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy. In addition, a short written test will assess your basic skills in written English. The assessment and interview dates are available on the web.
