This programme is divided into 2 distinct parts: the common foundation programme in year 1; the mental health branch programme in years 2 and 3; during the common foundation programme students from all branches of nursing study together; the 1st year provides students with an introduction to the principles of modern nursing; essential nursing skills and integration of theory and practice in a variety of clinical placements; during the branch programme students gain knowledge of mental health nursing care and apply this to the holistic needs of those using mental health services; including family and carers; students explore both wellness and illness and have an opportunity to learn about a range of therapeutic interventions taking in to account physiological; psychological; sociological; spiritual and cultural aspects of care; placements throughout the 3 years are in mental health settings with the exception of one placement where students undertake voluntary work.

The pace of the course is very fine. First semester is basic so its easy but in the second semester it takes you to the deep end....more
taught modules were pretty good. But wish the course length is more so that there will more time spend with the lecturers. More learning....more
