About this course

This course aims to prepare students for work in the contemporary theatre and its associated industries. Rooted in the principles of Stanislavsky’s later work, the system of physical action, it provides a structured sequence of learning opportunities. There is particular emphasis on enhancing the use of voice and body effectively in communication. Topics include: acting; actor and text; improvisation; acting for camera/television technique; performance projects; singing; microphone technique; song presentation; music theory; sight-singing; jazz; ballet; tap; body conditioning; movement; voice; speech; sight-reading; Alexander technique; stage combat; audition technique; assessment.

Additional entry requirements

Students should normally have the following qualifications: five GCE/GCSE passes, including two at A level, or four GCE/GCSE passes, including three at A level, or four passes in the SCE higher grade examinations, or BTEC National or Higher National Certificate or Diploma with merit grades.
