The course is suitable for those who work in the fabrication or welding industry. It is expected that you have been trained in all the aspects of your job and have been employed in the role for a minimum of 6 months. You will be interviewed prior to the start of the course to ensure that the criteria at the designated level can be achieved. Evidence must be generated in the workplace to the standards required by the awarding body. Assessments will be carried out on each activity and evidence will be collated into a portfolio by the candidate under the guidance of the assessor. The evidence will be verified and if acceptable a certificate is issued. As the course is based on practical tasks and underpinning knowledge, you will not need to attend college. A team of dedicated assessors will visit students in the workplace to ascertain technical and occupational competence in Engineering Maintenance. A qualification recognised by the industry. Candidates who successfully complete this qualification can progress to other Level 3 NVQ qualifications in a variety of different areas. However, progression routes are restricted to the occupational competences within the role of the candidate. It is recommended that candidates discuss progression routes with their assessor.
