Course Description
This course provides a hands-on experience of scripting in a multimedia authoring environment, such as Macromedia Director or Flash, allowing you to utilise the full capabilities of these authoring packages to create sophisticated multimedia solutions. This course is ideal for anyone wishing to expand on their existing knowledge of multimedia authoring, with the use of scripting. During this course students will learn to: Use a multimedia scripting language such as: Lingo in Director or ActionScript in Flash; Manipulate and control multimedia content; Design and build rich user interfaces; Program within an event based multimedia environment; Create interactive animations. On completion of the module you will be able to: Design and develop rich multimedia interfaces; Write scripts within an event based environment of a commercial multimedia authoring package; Produce custom user interfaces using multimedia scripting techniques; Manipulate and control multimedia content. This short course forms part of the following Professional Development Certificate(s): CPS Multimedia Design and Production.

Entry Requirements
Whilst there are no formal educational entry requirements for the course, a good level of general education is necessary, particularly with regard to literacy and numeracy. Mature individuals (21+ years) with relevant experience, and who may have had a lengthy break from study might also be eligible for entry following an interview with the course director. If the programme is providing professional updating an initial professional qualification or substantial professional experience will be required. Experience of developing multimedia presentations without scripting is assumed to the level of the 'Introduction to Multimedia Authoring' module. Some existing knowledge of basic programming concepts is helpful.
