Montessori Centre International (MCI) is Europe's largest Montessori Teacher training college. It provides training for those who wish to work in childcare and early years' education. At the core of its training programme is the Montessori system of education - a child-centred approach which is used all over the world.

The College aims to provide students with the knowledge, experience, practical training and qualifications they need to follow a career in childcare. The selection of full, part-time and distance learning courses that are offered, lead to internationally-recognised Montessori diplomas.

Dr Maria Montessori (1870 to 1952) was an innovator of classroom practice and ideas, which have had a profound influence on the education of young children. She pioneered a method of education which combines a philosophy of freedom and self-development for children with a practical approach.

She believed that all children want to learn and can absorb knowledge without effort if they are given the right kind of activities at the right time of their development by properly trained teachers.
