Course content: introduction to computers; power trains: internal combustion engines, gas turbines, drive lines, power train modelling; vehicle dynamics: braking, suspension, ride, handling (tracked, wheeled), case study; vehicle design and performance: military requirement, operational analysis; terramechanics; automotive performance; armour materials and performance; fighting vehicle design; reliability and trials; design synthesis; firepower: weapon systems, control theory, gun control systems, power hydraulics, gun drive theory, instrumentation; project; assessment of coursework, examination, project report.

Entry Requirements
Honours degree or professional equivalent normally required, other qualifications (including relevant experience) considered; suitable for officers and students from defence industry and Scientific Civil Service as preparation for senior posts in military vehicle project management teams.
