The programme is for adult nurses with at least 6 months clinical experience who would like to become a midwife; when students have successfully completed the programme they qualify for a BSc (Hons) in midwifery and are eligible to register with the NMC to practise as a midwife; as a midwife students are helping families and parents at 1 of the most crucial times of their lives, supporting women and their partners during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period; the programme is delivered through a mixture of clinical practice and academic study; students experience a wealth of opportunities for learning with midwives, women and their families within the hospital and community settings; from the outset of your journey students are able to apply growing knowledge and skills holistically through the undertaking of a small case-load of women; this is with the support of mentors and supervisors of midwives; a portfolio of practice helps to steer learning and integrate the theoretical strands into practice.
