The DMP consists of 2 distinct parts; taught modules of study and a dissertation; students must successfully complete a total of 8 taught modules; 6 compulsory taught modules and 2 optional modules in Stage 1 prior to progression to Stage 2, the research dissertation element of the DMP; each taught module has a credit status of 30 D-points and the dissertation component comprises 300 D-points; students who wish to exit the programme after successful completion of taught modules may be awarded an MPhil degree.
Compulsory modules: contemporary midwifery: challenges and opportunities; health care evaluation; health care research: a philosophical and practical overview; leadership and management; systematic reviewing; the social and political context of reproduction; optional modules: education, assessment and practice; health policy and public health; independent study module knowledge theory and practice; professional practice ethics.
