Students gain clinical experience with local health boards and on work placements; these placements encourage the skills, confidence and competence needed to be a midwife; to improve employability, students also develop a range of nursing abilities so that they can provide holistic care; they gain some of these skills on placements in general nursing wards, but the majority is gained in midwifery or gynaecology care settings.
