Course Description
This qualification demonstrates candidates' ability to support a range of hardware and software. IT will prepare students to achieve the entry qualification required to be recognised as a Microsoft Certified Professional or a Microsoft Certified Engineer. The course also aims to deliver hands-on training, fulfilling these topics; installing and configuring a Microsoft Windows desktop operating system; managing and troubleshooting access to resources and security; configuring and troubleshooting software; configuring and troubleshooting hardware devices and drivers; configuring and troubleshooting the desktop and user environment; troubleshooting local area networks, connectivity and services.

Candidates should pass two exams; 70-271: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System; 70-272: Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System
Entry Requirements
Candidates should have a basic knowledge of computer software and hardware to take the course and be working in an IT support environment
Venue Description
Dunstable College provides various facilities on campus such as Library which holds a wide variety of resources required for courses. The library also stocks videos, DVDs and CD-ROMs and there are internet-enabled computers. In addition there are also stocks of over eight thousand electronic journals and newspapers; the IT Workshop; the Refectory caters for all tastes, providing meals or a quick bite to eat. There are vending machines which dispense snacks and hot and cold drinks; the Coffee Shop serves a range of snacks, delicious scones and drinks ranging from a cafe latte to herbal teas. Students can find a range of colour copying, binding and finishing services for their coursework and projects in Reprographics. They also have access to a virtual learning environment. The College supports the Equal Opportunities Policy. It can easily be accessed by car and bus. Support is provided for students with learning difficulties and disabilities
