The university offers a conventional MSc programme by research and dissertation, in which students undertake a single, focused, research project from day 1, and attend only certain components of the transferable skills modules; students can do the MSc on a part-time basis over 2 years; we also assign a PMC to MSc students, to offer advice and keep a regular check on progress; students can select topics for the MSc, MPhil or PhD from any of the research areas covered by the research groups.
Areas of research: Bacterial pathogenesis and sensing; bioprocessing and molecular therapeutics; cancer targets and therapies; chromonomics and reproductive medicine; Kent fungal group; molecular motors and the cytoskeleton; protein folding and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; synthetic biology.
