Mathematics is important to the modern world; all quantitative science, including both physical and social sciences, is based on it; it provides the theoretical framework for physical science, statistics and data analysis as well as computer science; the programmes reflects the diversity and the excitement generated by new discoveries within mathematics that affect not only the technicalities of science but also the general understanding of the world in which we live; accountants are best known for checking the validity of company accounts; auditing; but also the devising and operating financial systems, conducting investment analysis, advising on business start-ups, company takeovers and company rescue schemes, and handle individuals� and corporations� tax affairs.
Stage 1: Financial accounting 1; quantitative methods for business and accounting; computing for business and accounting; economics; algebra; calculus; discrete mathematics and probability; mathematical methods; statistics. Stages 2-3: Financial accounting 2; management accounting 1; principles of finance; strategic management; analysis; linear algebra; dissertation/project; options.
