Marketing students develop skills and knowledge of the key strategic and operational aspects of marketing, and gain an awareness of the external marketing environment; strategic and operational aspects of marketing include the formulation of marketing strategies, managing the marketing function and its positioning relative to other key business functions, advertising and branding, customer relations management, applications of information technology, and e-marketing; the Italian degree, with the opportunity to study another major subject, provides students with advanced skills in the Italian language and a broad range of specialised and detailed insights into the culture, society and history that go with it; the course has language at the heart of it, with core modules developing the key skills every year, including practical needs such as the language needed for the year abroad and, later on, for the world of work.
Year 1: Core language modules in reading, writing, oral and aural skills; introductory modules on the culture of the language studied; opportunity to take a 2nd language; foundations of business, management and marketing (double module); quantitative methods for business and economics (double module). Year 2: Core modules to develop general and business oriented language skills; language options; principles of marketing; consumer behaviour; statistical methods and market research (double module); 4 options; language summer school. Year 3: Core modules in the major practical language skills; language options; marketing strategy and management; international business marketing; marketing of services; marketing project; 4 options.
