Year 2: Phytoplankton and primary production; estuaries; marine vertebrates; ecological processes of the marine benthos; practical techniques and key skills for oceanography; quantitative methods for biological and environmental science; plus selection from: animal behaviour; biological and chemical aspects of environmental pollution; freshwater ecosystems; sedimentary systems and processes; geochemistry. Year 3: Applied oceanography and fieldwork; independent reseach project; plus selection from: environmental physiology of marine organisms; zooplankton ecology and processes; inshore fisheries and aquaculture; marine molecular biology; selection from: biogeochemical cycles in the Earth system; applied sediment dynamics; palaeoclimate chane; oceanography from space.
