The University's Marine Laboratory in Portaferry provides opportunities to gain field experience on small boats, and houses the Centre for Marine Resources and Mariculture which includes diving facilities.
Level 1: Environmental biology; animal and plant diversity; genetics and molecular biology; micro-organisms; biochemistry. Level 2: Marine biology; animal structure and function; applied and environmental microbiology; practical marine ecology 1 (based at field station); 2 modules from: behavioural ecology; crop science; plants and environment; plant growth and development; population and evolutionary genetics. Level 3: Marine processes; fisheries biology, aquaculture and aquatic resources; practical marine ecology 2 (based at field station); 1 option; laboratory- and/or field-based research project.
