‘Making Mosaics’ have been offering art courses in the ancient and fascinating craft of mosaic since 2005 - mosaic making is a lot of fun, it's creative, addictive and easy (if you know how!). If you would like to learn about this fascinating art, come along and try one of our popular one and two day courses, or perhaps just come for the morning for a three hour taster class. 

Some make a weekend of it and explore this beautiful part of rural Essex, or if you are nearby, come along on a Tuesday morning (term time) for our 'drop in' creative mosaic mornings. We also run 6 week courses every term, where you can master many mosaic techniques, perhaps to throw a slab with marble, work in 3D and reverse, as well as creating a single piece of work of your own choice.

Anne Cardwell, who runs the courses, has been designing for over twenty years, working in top London graphic design consultancies before turning her illustrative hand to the medium of mosaic a decade or so ago. Anne is author of 'Stylish Mosaics', a newly published 'how to' mosaic book by Hamlyns (2010), which is crammed full of contemporary mosaic designs for modern interiors (see Amazon). She has a passion for mosaics which she loves to share with others, inspiring you with her enthusiasm and teaching the practical knowledge of the art.

The bright and airy ground floor studio is in a Victorian building on the High Street of Newport, Essex, just minutes from the mainline station with plenty of parking outside if you drive.
