London Hotel School (LHS) was founded in 1995 and is the UK's only dedicated hotel school. Located in Kensington Olympia, the college is close to the major London hotels where we have tours and our students work. The college is in a modern building in a quiet corner of Olympia. It is a popular choice of both undergraduate students from all over the world and also of hotel professionals who want to gain recognised qualifications.

What's on offer
LHS teaches three different levels of courses:

• The American Hotel and Lodging Association's Diploma in Hospitality Management
• Edexcel/BTEC Higher National Diplomas in International Hotel Management and Hospitality Management
• BA Honours Degree (Derby University) in Hospitality Management

The Diploma courses are modular and students can start at the beginning of any monthly module while the degree has September and January start dates.

LHS has close ties with the London hotel industry and our students usually have part-time jobs in hotels to gain experience and for some income during their studies.

The whole college is a wireless zone and all of LHS courses have assignments that students write and submit online which means they can often do coursework from many different locations. LHS has an extensive intranet with lots of useful resources and their close contacts within the hotel industry means that it is easy for students to go into hotels and interview and research on live businesses.

Facilities
The main feature of London Hotel School is the one year's work placement where students work in one of the top hotels in London to gain experience and also a salary. LHS works with the hotels to ensure this year is a learning experience and we visit the student every 12 weeks. A placement in The Ritz, Mandarin Oriental or One Aldwych is an excellent start into a career in the hotel business. LHS also has close ties with the Four Seasons hotels in London and students form the majority of their banqueting team.

Subject Strengths
Dedicated to hospitality means that all teaching staff at LHS have been hotel managers as well as having teaching qualifications. Our courses are business-focused covering finance marketing human resources etc, and also looking at management skills. All course units are assessed by assignment and we spend a lot of time developing the students’ interpersonal skills as this is the most important aspect of hotel management.
