About London Film Academy

Overview
London Film Academy Overview Image

London Film Academy is a non-profit trust, established in January 2002.  Our training is professional, constructive, multidisciplinary and of the highest standard. Our courses are run by practising industry professionals who give students an intense practical experience similar to the professional world of filmmaking. Our tutors treat students with respect as they impart education that boosts confidence and develops skills needed by the film and TV industry. Collaboration is the key to our underlying philosophy and as an Academy we have formed strong international partnerships with leading film festivals, schools, film and TV companies and working professionals.

In 2006 LFA incorporated Panico, a film training company set up in 1985 by Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam and Julian Doyle after making Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This move has enabled LFA to run a range of specialised short courses. Panico courses in their entirety have been incorporated into the range of LFA courses as a result of the union. For the up-to-date list, please visit the London Film Academy website.

At LFA we have a reputation for giving importance to ‘aftercare’ and are proud of our dedicated graduate support service through the prestigious Club Panico@LFA. This exclusive club is open to our graduates and has an active film making membership who produce shorts, music videos, documentaries and feature films (over 100 are made each year). The members have a good reputation among industry people who often call us when looking for crew members. Each year we train around 300 full- and part-time students and we maintain a proactive, constructive, hands-on approach to training and filmmaking.

The majority of our graduates are now working in film and TV industries and their films are shown at film festivals and broadcast across the world. Our students have been nominated for and won awards.

LFA and Goldsmiths University of London are members of the elite Skillset Media Academy Network - a group of institutions that have been identified by Skillset on behalf of the UK television and interactive industries as Centres of Excellence in creative media education and training. Our Diploma Course is run in partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London.
