What's on offer
The aim of all the College's courses is to develop students’ practical capabilities within their chosen field of study. Most LCIBS students are those intending to seek employment upon successfully completing their training at the College, though the College also caters for students wishing to prepare for business-related degree courses in the UK. The College has various start dates each year, full-time and part-time study options, and a range of course lengths (from three to eighteen months). In consultation with the admissions office, students may also tailor-make their own programmes, selecting the subjects of most interest and benefit to them.
The College’s students have a variety of backgrounds. With an average age of 26, they include non-business graduates (needing career-oriented business training in order to familiarise themselves with business practice and complement their degree), as well as business graduates needing additional training in a specialised area of business in a professional English-speaking environment. The College also accepts enrolments from business and non-business graduates wishing to complete an LCIBS programme in preparation for postgraduate study in the UK in a business-related area, as well as from visiting undergraduates from overseas taking time out from their degree studies in order to study in London and complete a career-oriented business course.
Experienced professionals taking a career break in order to update or develop their skills also study at the College, as do working professionals, based in London, who combine their studies with full-time or part-time jobs. The College also considers applications from school-leavers with the commitment and maturity required to complete an LCIBS programme and who wish to study at LCIBS as an entry route into university or, occasionally, as an alternative to university.
As a college providing courses with an international focus, LCIBS also has a student body comprising a wide range of nationalities. All areas of the globe are represented. This mixture of cultures brings an important additional aspect to students’ learning experiences. Combined with the practical focus of LCIBS programmes, and the individual attention available, the international diversity of the student body also helps create a stimulating, enriching and unique study environment.
