The London Art College was established in Fleet Street, London in 1931 by a distinguished group of art editors and illustrators. Today, as a private institution, it maintains the high standards of teaching and service that has served it and its students so well over the past 78 years.

The college specialises in distance learning and all its courses are specially designed to allow students to study art related subjects in the comfort and convenience of their own homes. The courses are continually updated and are tutored by experienced artists, many of whom exhibit their own work on a regular basis.

Students from all over the world enrol with the college, which has a strong reputation for bringing out the best in people irrespective of their age or background. Courses are designed to accommodate students with different levels of skill, ranging from complete beginners to much more experienced artists.

The courses offer excellent value for money and cover a wide range of subjects which are constantly being expanded. Flexibility is key to the college's success. Students are placed into carefully constructed programmes that they can follow from home with the personal support and encouragement of their course tutor.

The college awards its own diploma for courses designed to last approximately twelve months, and certificates for six-month programmes. The assessment panel considers both the level of achievement reached by a student on their chosen course and the degree of effort made to complete the course successfully. Awards are at Pass, Merit or Distinction level.

In addition the college offers various introductory courses and a young artists programme designed for home educators. This latter course is individualised to the needs of particular students in consultation with the parents or guardian.

The London Art College recognises not only the level of achievement reached by students but also the effort and commitment shown. Many courses offer the opportunity to create a portfolio of work that can be used in a variety of ways.

The College is fully accredited by the Open & Distance Learning Quality Council. ODLQC who were orginally set up by the UK government, inspect and evaluate Home Study colleges in the UK looking both at the quality of the courses on offer and the efficiency of the administration backing them up.
