About this course

Research specialities include the psychology of language, speech and auditory processing; students are introduced to theories and major funding in the psychology and physiology of hearing, the development of speech perception, and language and literacy development, recent work on hearing impairment and assessment and child language disorders; the course is aimed at graduates who wish to progress to a PhD in language development, psycholinguistics or psychoacoustics, or wish to boost their research skills en route to speech and language therapy, audiology, or clinical or educational psychology training; it is also aimed at professionals who have already qualified as speech and language therapists or audiologists, or clinical or educational psychologists, but wish to enhance their research skills before entering the job market, or who require additional knowledge about language, speech or hearing to apply to their work environment.

Modules

Compulsory modules cover: language, speech and hearing; child language disorders; research design and statistics; 1 optional module from a range of different areas: cognition; development; neuroscience.
