Current areas of research include: environment: individual motivation with concern for ecosystems and environmental science and the role of environmental values in policy formation; methods and methodological issues in cost-benefit analysis; institutional design for effective and efficient environmental policy implementation; citizen participation and access to environmental justice; environmental rights both as legally enforced and ethically and culturally defined; evaluation of effectiveness of alternative legal and economic instruments for environmental protection; urban and regional regeneration: policy evaluation; disparities in regional growth; effects of the single European market; housing and property: housing policy; housing finance; linkages between housing and land use planning; housing association finance and rents; impact of planning regulations on house prices; housing needs and affordability; housing market analysis; agriculture and rural affairs: analysis of farm businesses and commodity enterprises in order to inform agricultural policy-making in Whitehall and Brussels; food aid policy; impacts of agricultural policy; development of individual commodity regimes; there is a dissertation of 60000 words for the MSc; there is a dissertation of 80000 words for the PhD; in addition to the course fee students may have to pay a college fee.
