This course provides students with the practical and intellectual skills necessary to succeed in either print and/or online media, or in broadcast journalism; the course has a practical focus; students are expected to develop story ideas and contacts, and gather their own material for journalistic course work; students are given full training in using up-to-date media resources, newsrooms and studios.
Core modules: journalism skills; media law; public affairs and institutions; t-line shorthand; work placement; magazine project; news and feature writing; page design; sub-editing; web journalism; the final journalism portfolio; specialist journalism modules: business journalism; environmental journalism; investigative journalism; sports journalism; travel journalism.
