John Leggott College is a large government-funded sixth form College founded in 1968. It has over 2,200 students aged 16 to 20 and offers two year Advanced level courses leading to university entry. There are currently around 110 international students [5%] at the College.

Courses
  • 38 different A level subjects taught
  • Classes usually of 15 – 20 students
  • International students taught with UK students
  • IELTS lessons with exam fee included
  • Wide range of extra-curricular subjects including sport, music, [college orchestra and choirs] beginners’ languages, first aid, dance and drama.
Excellent reputation
  • For high quality teaching and A level results
  • International students progress every year to top universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE and Warwick.
  • In the last 4 years 20 international students have gone to Oxford or Cambridge and 20 to Imperial College.
Excellent facilities
  • Library, internet centre, science laboratories, language laboratories, art and photography suite, sports fields, indoor and outdoor games areas, gym, performing arts studio, music rooms, university advice office, canteen, student’s union with internet café, 800 networked computers for students
  • International Centre with a dedicated team of staff to look after international students
Prizes and Awards
  • In 2002-3, the Queen's Anniversary Prize, one of the top prizes in education, for its work in science, presented to the Principal by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
  • In 2002-3, the British Council award for International Student Support, awarded annually to the institution judged to be the best at looking after its international students in every way, both academically and pastorally
  • In 2005, finalist in the prestigious Rolls Royce science competition.
  • Twice awarded Beacon College status by the UK government because of its excellent inspection reports

Location
  • Scunthorpe is a small town of 70,000 in the East of the UK in the beautiful county of Lincolnshire.
  • Quieter, safer and cheaper to live in than many of the larger cities in the UK.
  • Manchester is the nearest international airport with a direct rail link. [1½ hours]
  • Taxi service to meet all international students individually at any airport.
Tuition fees
  • £5,100 per year for 2008, including extra medical insurance and all exam fees [including IELTS] and all non–academic courses. No hidden extras.
