Introductory Mastering: Introductory Mastering , taught by Russ Hepworth-Sawyer with guest, former Abbey Road mastering engineer, Paul Baily, introduces the art of music post-production. The module will discuss the principles of mastering including: an appreciation of the role of the mastering engineer in the production process; the art of mastering; and the vision for the product. The practice of mastering will also be explored including an investigation of the common equipment used within mastering. Focus will also be placed on professional level systems such as the Pyramix Digital Audio Workstation which is provided by eMerging UK. Topics include: Listening skills for mastering, acoustic and monitoring considerations, editing and mastering in digital audio workstations, signal processing in mastering, sequencing music (track order), fades, pauses, delivery methods, re-mastering. During the course you will get the opportunity to master various material together. This course is delivered over one weekend.
