This course is designed to give students the practical skills and supporting theory knowledge to weld in a safe manner. It covers the following topics: setting up and maintenance; identification of industrial gas cylinders; types of gas used; safe cylinder handling; safe cylinder storage; assembly and stripping of equipment; joint design and preparation; practice welding technique to produce a variety of joints, positions and material thicknesses; identification of weld defects and rectification of defects and destructive and non-destructive testing.
