This course has been designed to give students the practical skills and supporting theory knowledge to weld in a safe manner. It also covers the following topics: setting up and maintenance; equipment safety; principles of the MMA process; classification, selection and use of correct electrodes; AC and DC power sources; joint design and preparation; practice welding technique to produce a variety of joints, positions and material thicknesses; identification of weld defects and rectification of defects and destructive and non-destructive testing.
