Course Description
The course can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis and consists of taught modules, coursework and a practical individual project. The programme offers the following advanced modules: Object-Oriented Software Skills; Internet working; Distributed Software Systems; Information Security; Object-Oriented Software Process; Internet Software Development; Multimedia Technology; Ecommerce; Project Investigation; and Project. The project is taken after the successful completion of the taught modules, and usually consists of the development of a substantial software product. The opportunity currently exists for some students to undertake their individual project at a number of European universities or companies as part of an ongoing exchange scheme funded by EU programmes.

Assessment method
Assessment is by written examinations and practical coursework. To complete the MSc course successfully a student must satisfy the Board of Examiners in both the formal examinations and the project. The individual project is assessed at the end of the year via a written report and an oral examination.
Entry Requirements
A good Honours Degree, or equivalent, in Computing or a related discipline is required. For graduates who do not meet these requirements, substantial industrial computing experience will be required. Overseas applicants will also need to demonstrate English language ability (eg. IELTS 6.5, TOEFL score of 600 or equivalent).
