LLM is made up of 200 credits as follows: compulsory induction programme (law; economics; finance; the production of petroleum and minerals; graduate research methodology) worth 20 credits; core and elective modules to the total value of 140 credits; a dissertation or equivalent worth 40 credits; Diploma: induction programme plus an additional 120 module credits; core modules (minimum of 60 credits): international dispute settlement (20 credits); transnational investment law and policy (20 credits); international arbitration (20 credits); international trade law (20 credits); international commercial arbitration: practical exercises (10 credits); transatlantic negotiation simulation exercise (10 credits); international investment arbitration: practical exercises (10 credits); plus recommended elective modules of 140 credits for the LLM or 120 credits for the Diploma; LLM candidates are required to complete an additional 40 credits as follows: dissertation of up to 15,000 words on a topic approved by an academic supervisor; an internship; a 3 month work placement, approved by an academic supervisor; includes the submission of a written report.
