Course introduces the main issues associated with meeting the challenges of international development; looks critically at ideas about inequality at local and global levels and the relationship between the levels; 1st part introduces the main issues, placing them in their historical context; 2nd part examines 3 themes: transitions (offering a choice between sustainability and displacement); poverty and inequality; and technology and knowledge; this is a level 2 course (60 credits).
