The course is for those who wish to work in banking; the student has a clear focus on banking supervision but it is also relevant for those wanting to work in other areas, such as investment and financial markets; employers are increasingly requiring staff to be aware of the key ethical and regulatory principles in banking; this course gives the student the key topical debates and knowledge to impress future employers; the dissertation allows the student to focus upon a subject that interests them; this aids their future career development and also benefits the student's current or future employers.
1st semester: finance; methods of enquiry; banking and financial markets; financial risk management; 2nd semester: international management competencies; risk management of financial institutions; financial regulation and supervision; plus 1 option module from a selection including: global business strategy; corporate governance and ethics; Islamic banking; 3rd semester: research methods; dissertation.
