Build on the skills and knowledge from the beginners course, or prior learning, and learn how to make a jacket or blouse in a small, friendly class. As well as developing your garment construction techniques, you will be also learning about how to finish seams so you end up with a more professional looking garment.

All classes are small and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.

In this course you will learn

• how to make an unlined jacket (Autumn/Winter) or a blouse/shirt (spring/summer) or dress or trouser.
• The techniques require some previous knowledge of garment contruction as you will be doing tasks such as setting-in sleeves, attaching collars, flounce, cuffs and creating attractive buttonholes and other fastening methods.  
• All the equipment is provided, although you are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you prefer, and this is encouraged for all students.
• You will be provided with the pattern, and so all you will need to bring is the fabric, and you will be given guidance for choosing fabric close to the course start date.
• The course will provide you with knowledge and skills required to make the garment from cutting out the pattern pieces, to laying out the pattern pieces on the fabric, cutting technique, to marking the fabric using tailor's tacks and completing the garment using the sewing machine.

Many of students go on to study fashion at a college after finishing this course, or aspire to be self-employed and use the skills they have gained professionally and most will use the skills to make clothes for themselves and/or family.

You will be given a Certificate of Attendance on completion of the course.
