In this course, students will study units such as carpentry and joinery practical and theory; carrying out safe working practice; information, quantities and communicating with others; building methods and construction technology; carrying out first; carrying out first and second fixing operations; erecting structural carcassing; carrying out maintenance; setting up and operating a circular saw; health and safety. After successful completion of the course they can progress to the level 3 advanced carpentry and joinery programme or upon securing suitable employment, join the apprenticeship programme.
Students must have foundation Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent qualification.
