Course Description
The growth and expansion of urban populations has brought renewed interest in the field of interior deign. The closeness of our neighbours has fuelled our desire to distinguish ourselves through our living rooms and our kitchens. The call for designers who can advise and inspire individual creativity has never been greater. This degree is concerned with lifestyle, which is constructed in part by the things people own and the places they inhabit. Students learn how to design products, from door handles to lighting, and to decorate the surfaces and furnishings of indoor spaces. They also learn to develop and use design communication tools, including traditional drawing and making as well as digital modelling. The course covers the creative use of images from many sources to invent settings for domestic, commercial or leisure activities. Students are eligible for Diploma Membership of the Chartered Society of Designers in their final year of study.
