The programme covers the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases; the course covers established and emerging infections of global significance focusing on bacterial, viral and parasitic infections, the human response to infections including innate immunity, adaptive immunity, allergy and immune evasion; laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases; approaches used to prevent and treat infections including anti-microbial drug design and vaccine design; biological interactions between hosts and pathogens with particular emphasis on understanding the impact of these interactions on detection and treatment.
Modules include: Bioscience core skills; advanced immunology; infectious diseases; detection, treatment and prevention of infection; host-parasite interactions.
