This course is aimed at students who wish to enter the marketplace as illustrators specialising in narrative and sequential work; this includes the comic or cartoon strip, the graphic novel, film, TV, theatre, animation, storyboarding, instructional diagrams, some forms of storybook illustration, characterisation and figure study through to web graphical illustration.
Year 1: Visual studies; illustration techniques; 2-dimensional animation techniques; figure drawing; narrative formats and language; historical and contextual studies. Year 2: Drawing studies; sequential illustration; design approaches; personal style and directions; creative writing; contextual studies. Year 3: Visual process; business practice and exhibition; devised creative assignments; dissertation.
