This course is designed to prepare students for a range of careers in the field of illustration. Throughout the course they will gain experience in the use of a wide range of traditional and digital media. They will have the opportunity to develop work towards a variety of projects including book and magazine publication, editorial work, children’s book illustration and advertising. In year 1, the emphasis is on image making using a range of drawing and graphic media - both traditional media and modern digital technologies. The aim is to encourage the development of visual language and creativity. Modules are: visual skills 1B, directions 1B, critical and cultural studies 1, visual skills 1A and thinking about ideas 1A.
For UK students, normally three GCSE passes at grade C or above or equivalent, and at least one GCE A2 level at grade E or above are required.
