Course Description
This programme covers the key knowledge and skills required to work in the IT/Computing sector, or to progress to Higher Education. There are six core units to be studied over both years: Communication & Employability Skills for IT, Computer Systems, Introduction to Software Development, Business Information Systems, Event Driven Programming, IT Systems Analysis and Design and Principles of Software Design and Development. There are twelve additional units including: Developing Computer Games, Web Site Development, Object Oriented Programming, Advanced Database, Advanced Spreadsheets and E-Commerce.
Assessment method
Candidates will be assessed through a combination of internal and external methods, without formal examination.
Entry Requirements
Candidates will need two GCSEs at grade B or above and three GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths, or First Diploma for IT Practitioners (Merit grade).
