This course aims to give students the necessary skills to assess their own competence in carrying out a range of basic day-to-day bookkeeping routines and activities using a single entry manual bookkeeping system. The activities will include entry of business transactions, and routine basic bookkeeping tasks. It also aims to act as an introduction to the practical elements of financial record keeping, giving the candidate the necessary skills to record financial transactions in a single entry, manual bookkeeping system. It covers units that include: recording receipts and payments, preparing and processing book-keeping documents, recording credit transactions, making and receiving payments and maintaining petty cash records. After the completion of this course students may progress to IAB Level 2 Award in Practical Bookkeeping or IAB Level 2 Certificate in Practical Bookkeeping.
