Key House NVQ Centre is approved by City & Guilds to offer the Housing NVQ Certificate Level 3 which requires the candidate to achieve a minimum of 27 credits - 3 mandatory units = 13 credits, plus at least 14 credits from optional units chosen by the candidate. To obtain the relevant NVQ the candidate must produce a portfolio of evidence for assessment. Full guidance will be given by qualified and occupationally competent NVQ Assessors. To complete the NVQ the candidate will have to produce a portfolio of evidence to show how they meet the NVQ National Standards in their normal work. To produce the portfolio the candidate will write explanations of how they meet the standards, produce evidence of accomplishment, obtain witness testimonies, answer questions and are observed carrying out some tasks by their Assessor. The portfolio is verified (quality checked) by suitably qualified persons before the candidate is awarded the NVQ. One important thing to note is that a NVQ is not pass or fail; if there is insufficient evidence provided there may be a need to produce more evidence to meet the gaps in the National Standards, but eventually the NVQ will be completed. A really keen candidate could complete an NVQ in 3 months, though a more realistic timescale is between 6 and 12 months. It all depends on how much time the candidate is willing and able to dedicate to working on their portfolio, particularly their own time.
