About this course

This one-year programme is suitable for those wishing to gain entry to the Hospitality and Catering sector. The course provides a good foundation in cooking skills, knife skills, organisational skills and some time management. Example Units: - Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment - Contribute to effective teamwork - Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food - Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation - Maintain customer care - Prepare and cook rice - Prepare and cook eggs - Prepare hot and cold sandwiches - Prepare vegetables - Cook vegetables - Prepare and cook fish Throughout the course you will be given work-related assignments based on realistic scenarios.

Additional entry requirements

If your GCSE results aren?t what you expected, this programme of study offers you the opportunity to make the most of your existing skills, including those from work experience, part-time work and interests from outside school. If you are applying for this course, you will normally have taken your GCSEs. Some of the qualifications that you will study will include Functional Skills.

*More info: 16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees.
