Year 1 of History of Art provides a grounding in key skills needed to study both History of Art and History through the study of medieval, early modern, modern and contemporary Art History; topics studied in subsequent years may include modern art in Italy, arts of war and peace, modern art in Britain, French fashion 1700-1900, Eduard Manet, modern German art, Paris 1789-1900, Simone Martini, Medieval Tuscany, Italian Renaissance drawing, visual cultures of Italian cinema, and image and word in 18th-century British art; Spanish is built around the study of the Spanish language, complemented by options in the history, literature and cultures of Spain and Latin America; in years 2 and 4 students choose from a wide range of options covering the languages, literature, history, politics and culture of the Spanish-speaking world; year 3 is spent abroad.
