Students meet for lectures four morning a week, with interactive sessions and seminars scheduled on 4 afternoons. Wednesdays are reserved for field trips and private study.
Course Description
This innovative new course is unique in the UK in offering a Master's Qualification entirely in the Arts of China. It is designed for students who wish to gain a thorough knowledge of the Arts of China while acquiring experience in artefact analysis, cataloguing, reporting and writing about works of art for which the Christie's masters programme is famous.

Assessment method
Course work is assessed through a system of component credits. To qualify for the aware of M.Litt degree, students must successfully achieve the appropriate standard in a range of work. In addition to regular written assignments and seminar presentations, students sit the professional cataloguing examination where they are required to catalogue a range of objects, taken directly from the sale room, to Christie's Auction House standards. The main academic piece of work is the thesis, which takes the form of an exhibition catalogue and is carried out individually by the student under the supervision of their tutor. This critical piece of work is designed to enable students to display all the key academic and professional skills learned on the programme.
Entry Requirements
No prior knowledge of the culture and language of China is required. It is hoped that a wide range of graduates will apply for this course, including those trained in other areas of art history.This is a full-time postgraduate degree open to all students with a university education although preference will be given to those with a degree in the History of Art. We welcome applications from mature students who have experience or knowledge of art, but may not have graduated in art history. Non-English speaking students must have IELTS 8 or equivalent.
Venue Description
Christie's Education is provided with teaching spaces including five lecture rooms, and has a museum room, student common room, and Learning Resources Centre which includes a computer room, slide library, periodicals and book library. It is a short walk from Oxford Street, and Warren Street and Great Portland Street tube stations.
