This course examines the central philosophical issues arising from biological research and gives students a critical understanding of such issues and their implications for our individual life and for society as a whole; in doing so, it prepares students for further research or employment related to the management and evaluation of science and its impact on society.
Compulsory modules: history and philosophy of biology, part 1; history and philosophy of biology, part 2; dissertation; 3 option modules chosen from philosophy of science; science, technology and society; genetics in society; philosophy of the social sciences 1; other options are available.
