This Foundation Degree course offers the study of History with Heritage and Archaeology as a broad foundation for further specialism, or as a qualification in its own right. Students will study a wide range of issues in local, national and international contexts to analyse historical developments and consider the relationship of the past to the present. The course provides an opportunity to gain higher level skills and insights into History in a creative way. The academic modules bring to life periods and issues from the past and the way that History is presented and used by society. Other modules relate historical skills to work practices, developing an understanding of how historical study can enhance employment skills and opportunities.
GCSE Level: Normally English and Maths at Grade C or above. Together with one of the following: A minimum of 60 tariff points at A Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification. Access to Higher Education: Considered on an individual basis. Applications from mature students without academic credentials will be considered on an individual basis. National and Advanced Diplomas in a relevant subject are accepted as a progression to a Foundation Degree and HND. Please note, additional costs may be incurred for necessary CRB check and if any equipment, resources or trips need to be purchased.
