This course is aimed at tutors, lecturers and academics in the full range of higher education settings; higher education managers, administrators and academic- related staff; education developers and accreditation consultants; widening participation and access staff; higher education policy makers; the course in Higher Education is an opportunity to hone professional expertise and to contribute to debates based on research literature and policy documents in a still new and exciting field, and has several significant features: it assists a wide range of higher education staff responsible for all aspects of the quality of learning and teaching to carry out their roles; it takes a case-based approach and topics for assignment work; the course is determined by course participants, drawing upon their own work in HE; it is one of few courses offered nationally which offers a progression route from PG Certs aimed at university staff; it is taught by specialist staff with national and international reputations who are based in the Centre for Research in Schools and Communities and the Centre for Research in Higher, Adult and Vocational Education.
