Edexcel BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) in Health and Social Care (Applied Social Studies) is a specialist vocational programme, linked to professional body requirements and with a strong work related emphasis. The HND provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the health and social care sector and its wide recognition by employers allows progression directly into employment. This course places a strong emphasis on development of transferable skills, e.g. critical analysis, project management, counselling, planning and efficient communication, to ensure that graduates have the awareness to succeed in the changing health and social care environment. The HND in Health and Social Care (Applied Social Studies) provides opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and practical skills in the workplace. Students will have the opportunity to do this through formal work placements or part-time employment experience. A range of assessment methods is used including essays, reports, debates, projects and presentations.
