This programme is made up of three components: a core course taught over a 20 week teaching period, from September to February; and optional courses taught in 3 10 week blocks and a dissertation.
Core course: research methods and statistics; optional courses include; (1) cancer/palliative care: assessing and managing symptoms; and communication in psychological, social & spiritual care; (2) cancer care: scientific basis of cancer; (3) cardiac care: managing cardiovascular risk; managing cardiac care; and principles of acute cardiac management; (4) critical care: contemporary issues & systematic approaches; developing clinical practice; (5) stroke care; managing stroke care; (6) lymphoedema options: diagnosis, assessment and risk reduction; assessment & management; managing oedema due to advanced disease; managing complicated lymphoedema; specialist service development; and Casley-Smith MLD specialist skills update course; (7) healthcare chaplaincy: providing spiritual & religious care in health care; and professional practice in spiritual & religious care in healthcare; (8) generic options: education for professional practice; ethics for professional practice; and management for change in health care.
